National Verification

The St. Joseph Regional Burn Center is a nationally verified burn center, which is the highest level of recognition that a burn center can receive. The American College of Surgeons and the American Burn Association bestow this accolade in recognition of excellence in a hospitals total care and treatment of burn patients. This is a rare and elite distinction for a non-university program.

Verification is a voluntary process a burn center can request as a way of independently evaluating their level of excellence. The process involves physicians from around the country actually visiting the hospital and interviewing and observing the entire burn team.

We are extremely proud of not only the care we provide to burn patients, but also to the role we play in the community working on burn prevention and educating first responders (police, fire and EMS) on how to properly treat burn victims before they arrive at St. Joseph Hospital.
