Fort Wayne's first hospital, St. Joseph Hospital is a full-service hospital with a 140-year history of providing advanced-quality healthcare, including surgical services.
A wide variety of surgical and special procedures are performed regularly at St. Joe. From complex invasive surgeries that require a hospital stay to routine procedures or laparoscopic surgeries performed on an outpatient basis, St. Joe's team of board-certified surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, physician assistants, radiology technicians, pharmacists and rehabilitation therapists is always ready for any case. Routine, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures are some of the most frequently performed outpatient procedures at St. Joe.
This compassionate and experienced surgical services team uses advanced equipment and state-of-the-art technology to care for patients preoperatively, during surgery in one of the hospital's nine surgical suites or one of the multiple procedure rooms, and in recovery. Nurses with three to 30 years of OR and/or critical care experience care for patients with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio prior to surgery and a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio after surgery.

St. Joe also offers a burn and wound clinic, an orthopaedic clinic and a surgery clinic. The burn and wound clinic offers follow-up treatment after surgery, while the orthopaedic and surgery clinics offer presurgical consults as well as follow-up care.
