You should take an active role in documenting and maintaining an accurate, up-to-date listing of your allergy and medication history. This list should include all prescription and over-the-counter medications as well as herbals, nutritional supplements and vitamins that you are currently taking. You should note dosage, strength and time taken. The healthcare team needs to know this information to provide the best possible care. This information should be kept with you at all times and updated whenever a change occurs.
St. Joseph Hospital as well as all Lutheran Health Network hospitals in Allen County are tobacco free. The use of any tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, chew, etc.) are prohibited on the campus for employees, volunteers, patients, medical staff, visitors and vendors.
Secondhand smoke has been proven to be harmful. In the healthcare environment, it is especially important that those who may have compromised immune systems or other health conditions, that leave them more susceptible to the effects of secondhand smoke, not be exposed to it while on the hospital campus. The tobacco-free policy was not created to infringe upon the right of personal choice, but instead, it was created to promote and protect the health of those for whom we provide care.
