First Time Public Division Lets Area Residents “Weigh” Along With Fort Wayne’s Smallest Winner Contestants
Public weigh-in offered Friday on the Lutheran Hospital campus
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (March 27, 2012) – The 29 contestants vying to become Fort Wayne’s Smallest Winner for 2012 may have some company in the gym and on the trail this year. While competitors in the main weight-loss category have their progress documented on camera, those who want to take part in a similar challenge away from the limelight now have their chance.
The fifth season of Fort Wayne’s Smallest Winner will offer for the first time a public division that will run simultaneously with the popular 15-week contest that determines which one of the 29 FWSW contestants can lose the most weight. The public division competition kicks off March 30 with an open weigh-in on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
Participants in the public division will receive some of the same information and advice as the 29 Smallest Winner contestants competing in the main division. Each will also be strongly encouraged to take part in a nutrition class, a public training day, and a 10K or USATF certified half marathon in July in which they may walk or run in one of the events.
Those interested in joining the public division must weigh in Friday to participate in the contest. The public weigh-in will be offered between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Lutheran Weight Management Center, which is located at the northeast corner of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Wayne, 7970 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
